NEDDC Local Plan Issues and Options Consultation on the Strategic Approach to the Location of Development and Refined Sites (March 2026)
45077 – Land Behind 289 to 339 Williamthorpe Road, Holmewood
Representation ID: 12054
Received: 22/04/2026
Respondent: North Wingfield Parish Council
This site appears to be landlocked with no detailed access shown, other than via site 45262. Development would be out of character with the remaining area. To its east are allotments and to the north and west is open farmland. Development of this site would reduce the settlement gap between North Wingfield and Holmewood.

45094 – Land to Side and Rear of Goodacres Tibshelf Road, Holmewood
Representation ID: 12055
Received: 22/04/2026
Respondent: North Wingfield Parish Council
This site is a continuation of site 45834. It avoids being bounded by the Five Pits Trail to the south west and, were it to be granted, any recreational space associated with this site should be coordinated with the neighbouring site so as to avoid the creation of a patchwork of sites in close proximity to each other.

45262 – Land to the West of Feld Lane, Holmewood
Representation ID: 12056
Received: 22/04/2026
Respondent: North Wingfield Parish Council
This site would be a major intrusion into the countryside, further narrowing the settlement gap between North Wingfield and Holmewood. It would also border the Five Pits Trail and Wolfie Pond site will which severely disrupt the ecology of the area

45126 – Land off 5 Little Morton Road, North Wingfield
Representation ID: 12057
Received: 22/04/2026
Respondent: North Wingfield Parish Council
These sites would involve a major intrusion into the countryside, crossing the nearby brook to the east, where it also crosses a PRoW. It would be out of character with the area and be visible from the east and south east. Previous applications to the south were refused due to remnant fossilised strip and it is likely that this site is of the same character. Access to the sites is likely to be dependent upon the development of site 45260 which would add to the highway concerns related to the development of that site.

45260 – Land to the East Side of St Lawrence Road, North Wingfield
Representation ID: 12059
Received: 22/04/2026
Respondent: North Wingfield Parish Council
This site if approved would cause significant highways issues on the main Chesterfield Road, with repercussions that would affect the whole village. It would also mean the loss of the distinctive areas of the village from Little Morton and the Highfields areas, resulting in one extremely busy main road that will create a thoroughfare of traffic through the village

45236 – Land North of Williamthorpe Road and East of Chesterfield Road, North Wingfield, Derbyshire
Representation ID: 12061
Received: 22/04/2026
Respondent: North Wingfield Parish Council
If approved this site would create, along with other sites, one continuous band of housing along the greatly respected and very well used Five Pits Trail. Being bordered either side would severely undermine the entire purpose of the Trail. It would also narrow the Settlement Gap between North Wingfield and Grassmoor, as well as as creating even more traffic along the already busy Williamthorpe Road

The Parish Council opposes any further largescale housing developments in the village, particularly if it not accompanied by significant improvements to the local infrastructure - including highway infrastructure, recreational facilities, education provision and health provisions.
