This land is owned by the Woodland Trust. The Trust would like to make clear that it does not intend to make this land available for development. Burton Wood is a valued local area, held for the long-term benefit of the public. The woodland provides significant benefits. Its loss through development would represent a significant and irreversible harm to both nature and public amenity. Given that the Trust is not willing to release the site for development, the proposed allocation is neither deliverable nor appropriate and we would therefore ask the Council to remove this site from the Local Plan.
