NEDDC Local Plan Issues and Options Consultation on the Strategic Approach to the Location of Development and Refined Sites (March 2026)

45745 – Land at the Junction of Narrowleys Lane and Moor Road, Ashover

Representation ID: 12077

Received: 22/04/2026

Respondent: Ashover Parish Council

Representation Summary:

Impact on scenic value, landscape, setting, appearance of area. Not sustainable development, impact on biodiversity & highway safety. Contrary to Neighbourhood Plan, out of scale. Planning history of site relevant - 'substantial work' threshold not met since permission in 2016 and site should be removed.

New housing developments should be built in a way that prevents rainwater from entering the sewer system unnecessarily. In general terms, Severn Trent feel they have enough capacity for sewage; the difficulty is the sheer volume and intensity of rainwater entering the network, largely attributed to climate change. Ashover Parish Council requests that NEDDC’s Planning department raise with developers, mitigation measures such as Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems and rainwater harvesting.
