North East Derbyshire Publication Draft Local Plan (Reg 19)

North East Derbyshire Green Belt

Representation ID: 6844

Received: 14/03/2018

Respondent: Grassmoor, Hasland & Winsick Parish Council

Legally compliant? Yes

Sound? No

Duty to co-operate? Yes

Representation Summary:

Representation not received on representation form; Council officer has made interpretation.

The Parish Council requests an amendment to the Local Plan in relation to the former Cory Coal site off North Wingfield Road which has been the subject of a planning application (17/00614/OL). The Parish Council had discussions with the developer prior to the application being submitted and one of the main views was that the site needed a gateway building. The area around the entrance where such a building would be built is designated, possibly incorrectly, as greenbelt land. Clearly this land has for many years been used for industrial purposes and should be classed as a brown field site. This land should be re-designated a brown field land which would enable the development of the gateway building.

Change suggested by respondent:

Re-designate the area around the former Cory Coal site off North Wingfield Road, Grassmoor from Green Belt land to brown field land.

The Parish Council has tonight at its meeting considered the Local Plan and in particular a request by a local developer to support an amendment. The land in question is the former Cory Coal site off North Wingfield Road which has recently been the subject of a planning application (17/00614/OL). The Parish Council were supportive of the application except for some concerns regarding traffic issues and the application was recently approved. The Council had discussions with the developer prior to the application being submitted and one of the main views was that the site needed a gateway building. The Parish Council understands that the area around the entrance where such a building would be built is designated, possibly incorrectly, as greenbelt land. Clearly this land has for many years been used for industrial purposes and should be classed as a brown field site. The Council would therefore request that this land be re-designated a brown field land which would enable the development of the gateway building.
