Respondent: Campaign to Protect Rural England
Given the regeneration agenda within the South and East sub-areas together with large brownfield strategic development sites, these areas are capable of carrying a larger proportion of new housing than population projections suggest. Whilst levels are ambitious, they appear to be supported by evidence.
the range of potential development sites appears s sufficient, without leading to unacceptable impacts upon open countryside, rural tranquillity, key views and landscapes, settlement identity and urbanisation. However, we would conclude that the South and East sub-areas have little remaining capacity to accommodate further growth without seriously encroaching into open countryside and compromising settlement identity.
