Main Modifications to the North East Derbyshire Local Plan (Publication Draft), 2020

Representation:

Support the removal of the Callywhite Lane employment site in the employment land supply table due to uncertainties over delivery within the Plan period.

In allowing DR1 to be allocated, the Council has chosen the site which will have the most negative impact on Dronfield town centre, Dronfield Bottom and the villages of Unstone and Unstone Green in respect of vehicle movements and impact on the B6057. It is less sustainable than other sites in the District. Because of the modification to the Callywhite Lane Employment site which has been removed as an active site during the Plan period, to a long term safeguarded site, the prospect of additional employment to accompany or coincide with housing development cannot be demonstrated. Thus the occupants of any additional dwellings will undoubtedly add to the already high levels of commuting to Chesterfield, Sheffield and further afield. This is contrary to what the Plan seeks to achieve in terms of sustainable development.
